Kobudo - jujutsu - grappling - swords - weapons
At the GiYu Dojo we teach the classical Japanese Martial Art of Kobudo, the fighting style used by the warriors of Japan, the Samurai and Ninja. The Koryu arts studied at our Dojo are combat Martial Arts, not sport oriented. These art forms are the precursors to Martial Arts such as Aikido, Jujitsu, Judo, Kendo, Iaido and Karate....etc. Kobudo is a methodology of self-defense and self-preservation that concentrates on technique and employing the students own body movements and body dynamics to defeat a stronger attacker. The emphasis of Kobudo is placed on timing, distancing, and technique rather than speed or strength in order to overcome an aggressor. This is because timing, distancing, and technique will give you the skills to win, whereas speed and strength can be defended by others who are faster or stronger. The art of Ninjutsu develops your physical, emotional, and spiritual being, which allows you to overcome obstacles in life.
At our dojo, we will teach you how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. You will learn to protect your body with hand to hand combat (striking, grappling, standing, and ground techniques), as well as traditional and modern weapons including swords, staffs, knifes and firearms training.

The dojo has existed since the early 1980s. The name has changed several times over the years. In 2007, we separated from the Jinenkan organization and became an independant organization.

How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We focus on quality, and have avoided the pitfalls of the bigger commercialized dojos. We teach for the love of the art, and not for money. We are selective about our students, and only accept those who we believe have the motivation to learn and excel. Our prices are among the best in the area.
